Chapter Four

Gwen wasn’t a virgin. In this day and age, who was? And yet, from the moment he took her hand and placed it over the prominent bulge in the front of his pants, it was at once the most wondrous thing she’d ever felt and the most forbidden. And she couldn’t even say for sure why.

Her hand softened, molding to the jutting hardness. God, she could not get close enough, only now it had nothing to do with the cold and everything to do with the hotness. She definitely should not be doing this; except she really wanted to.

It was kind of manipulative of her, though, wasn’t it? Although, they were married, kind of. Sort of. Not really, but close enough for this not to matter, right? And he felt so good, and not just because he was warm. Two days ago, she’d abruptly gone from having a perfectly happy and normal life, to total upheaval. She’d almost been kidnapped. She’d had to run, literally, for her life. Crashing into Daniel had been both the best thing that could have happened to her and, coincidentally, the worst that could have happened to him, because look where they’d ended up. She shouldn’t be glad that he was here at all; she ought to be ashamed and yet, it was hard not to be grateful that she wasn’t going through all this alone. It was hard, especially since as scared as she had been two days ago, that was how safe she felt with Daniel’s arms around her.

It had been a long time since anyone had held her like this. Hell, it had been a long time since a man had taken her hand and physically put it on his erection. She liked everything about this right now. Gone were the things she couldn’t do a damn thing about—the cold, the sand, her empty stomach, and the fact that neither of them had anything but their own damp clothes and a beach for a bed. Everything in her was now focused on the burning hard length of him filling up her palm as she cupped and stroked, and wondered if she were taking unfair advantage of him, and hoped he wouldn’t think so come the morning, because just touching him like this was igniting all the right tingling feelings in the pit of her stomach. And between her legs. And in the tips of her already budding nipples as each breath she took ever so faintly caused her breasts to bump his chest, scraping her against the inner cloth of her bra. If only she were wearing lace instead of cotton. She wouldn’t at all have minded scraping just a little bit harder.

His face was all shadow, but even in the darkness she could feel the intensity of his stare. She could hear it too, in the heaviness of his breathing and the warmth of his hand as it found the side of her face, cupping her cheek.

“I don’t have anything I ought to have for a situation like this,” he warned.
